Mill Creek Residential, a multifamily investor and operator specializing in apartment communities across the U.S., Thursday announced The Halal Guys, the popular New York food cart turned brick-and-mortar restaurant, will open in Modera by Mill Creek—Midtown.
The 29-story community, the first high-rise building of Mill Creek’s Atlanta residences, houses 435 apartment homes, including studio, one-, two-, and three bedrooms.
The first-floor streetscape will be dedicated to 12,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
“The addition of The Halal Guys to the retail landscape at Modera Midtown is a huge win for the community,” Harvey Wadsworth, Vice President of Development at Mill Creek, said in the release.
“We’re excited to partner with the team there and are looking forward to seeing the concept further energize Midtown’s evolving culinary scene.”
The Halal Guys, the company’s second location in Atlanta, will consist of 1,486 square feet of street-level restaurant space and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2018.
The restaurant will offer a mix of various American Halal menu items, including gyro sandwiches, beef and chicken platters with rice, and the chain’s famed white and red sauces.
The fast-casual restaurant will join Momonoki, a modern Japanese concept from the team behind Decatur’s Brush Izakaya, as Modera Midtown’s restaurant offerings.
“The Halal Guys brand traditionally has attracted people of all ages and backgrounds,” Joe Hafez, The Halal Guys Atlanta director of operations, said in the release.
“Much like New York City, Midtown Atlanta is a vibrant, fast paced, diverse metropolitan community very rich in culture. We are looking forward to bringing The Halal Guys experience to Midtown Atlanta.”
Adrienne Crawford, vice president, and Lily H. Heimburger, vice president, with SRS Real Estate Partners represented the landlord, Mill Creek Residential Trust, in the lease agreement.
Logan Elder, senior associate, with JLL, represented the tenant.

Tried their food on Buford Hwy, it was without flavor. The person behind the line asked if I wanted “BBQ” sauce and I said yes. It was the hottest sauce EVER and ruined my dish of blandness. I had to add a ton of the white sauce just to get some of it down.
