The project, located at the corner of Edgewood and Equitable Place, is a part of the university’s revitalization of an area adjacent to Woodruff Park.

The building is home to an incubator, Collabtech Research Labs.

According to a statement issued to What Now Atlanta from GSU Friday, the university is currently completing the renovation of the third floor for University Research Services’ administration offices.

Emphasis is being placed on the building’s engagement with the street, as additional work will create a formal entrance to the renovated lobby (with an ADA compliant access ramp) and include a student social space.

Additional scope of work includes a restoration of the building’s 1939 art deco façade, clean-up of existing brick masonry, replacing old single pane windows with new energy efficient insulated windows, and a glass-lit GSU sign and screen panel.

Move-ins are scheduled to be completed by September.

Also nearby on Edgewood, a Walgreen’s store recently opened inside a restored space in the Olympia Building, and a new Starbucks is underway inside Hurt Building.

  1. The Medical Arts Building would be a great candidate for renovation, along with the old Norfolk Southern Headquarters building.

  2. I’d love if they could take the ugly ATT dish tower off of the old Bell South buildin (seen just above the renovated deck)

  3. How about the Bell Building attached to the one mentioned in the article. It is located at Auburn Ave. NE and Equitable Place NE.
