As reported by What Now Atlanta in May, the 53,230 square foot retail giant will be part of the Summerhill mixed-use development along Hank Aaron Drive, which includes a variety of service-oriented tenants, banks, healthcare providers, fast-casual restaurants, and fitness studios. Last week, it was also announced that Branch Properties acquired 4.4 acres to co-develop Summerhill Station, an 87,000 square foot retail development anchored by the Publix Super Market as reported by What Now Atlanta.

The listed cost of construction for the new grocery store with complete interior buildout is nearly $5 million.

According to their website, Publix’s mission is to be the premier quality food retailer in the world. Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins in Winter Haven, Florida, the grocery store is the largest employee-owned company. Employing over 225,000 people, they have 1,290 stores located in the country’s southwest region, including 195 stores in the State of Georgia. Additionally, they have nine distribution centers and eleven manufacturing facilities throughout Georgia and Florida.  In particular, the grocery chain’s bakery plant is in Atlanta. Awards and achievements listed on their website include being named Number One on Newsweek’s magazines America’s Best Customer Service in Supermarkets for 2021 and listed by J.D. Power & Associates on the Pharmacy Customer Satisfaction Index Rating for 14 years.

According to City records, David Smith of Freeman Morgan Architects out of Virginia is listed as the licensed professional for the project.
