It is the first Georgia location for the restaurant chain, which currently has 15 restaurants across the U.S. (and five coming soon including the Alpharetta location), according to Ackerman & Co., the brokerage firm that assisted Godavari in selecting Windward Promenade and represented Prathivind Bejgum, the franchisee, in the lease transaction.

“After searching for space all over Johns Creek and Alpharetta, when we looked at Windward Promenade, we noticed people are happy there,” Bejgum in a telphone interview Thursday told What Now Atlanta.

“The center attracts major crowds.”

Bejgum, a software engineer by trade and an entrepreneur by heart, has always wanted to get in the restaurant business. While in India, Bejgum and Yama family together ran an edible oil retail and wholesale business.

“I’ve been researching business ideas for the past year-and-a-half. Our focus was on the best available concepts. In this cutting edge market, there are tons of restaurant options. We had to find an authentic Indian experience.”

Located on Georgia Highway 9 (North Main Street), Windward Promenade offers 48,185-square-feet of restaurant and retail space.

Godavari, situated in suite 108, a corner unit, joins restaurants like La Parilla and Taco Mac in the shopping center.

“We are definitely here to offer the best Indian food with the best possible customer service. It’s not just like another restaurant where food is served. When people come here, they will say, ‘this is the best Indian cuisine experience I’ve ever had.’ Our menu is very unique and authentic. Trust me, it’s really authentic.”

Godavari is expected to open in July, August at the latest.
