After originally planning to open in mid-May, Glenwood Place Chick-fil-a is now slated to open June 9, a corporate representative told What Now Atlanta Monday.

In addition, the massive 118,000-square-foot Kroger anchoring the Fuqua mixed-use development is planned to open June 30, according to a Kroger rep.

The supermarket will feature a Kroger gas station and a Starbucks location inside the store.

Waffle House and Chipotle are also planned for the location.

What do you think of the tenants slated for this development? Tell us below…

  1. It’s going to be a mess for traffic and looks terrible and like it belongs 30 minutes south or north of the city.

  2. Glenwood Park is a live/work/walking neighborhood and all of the tenants of this development are destination stores that people drive to. Chain restaurants and a super-sized Kroger are completely inappropriate and the roads surrounding it, including limited access to a highway and two lane neighborhood roads will not support the increased traffic. But, the city did not respond to the neighborhood’s concerns and now we are stuck with an undesirable development that is a blight along the Beltline.

  3. I’m a 10 yr resident of GP and regret that I didn’t put my home on the market last year. CFA, Waffle House, etc……absolutely terrible decision on my behalf to stay

  4. I, for one, welcome our gridlocking traffic-creating overlords. Perhaps the car-dependent fatsos will choke this development to the brim, or perhaps it will create a walk-bike utopia that alleviates the hell that is Moreland Ave. Either way, fuqua you.

  5. And now there is going to be another disaster by Fuquay on the other side of you and in my back yard making it even worse (905 Memorial Drive). I wish someone would stop them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I must be the only person in Grant Park looking forward to this development opening…..enough with driving to the terrible Kroger on Moreland.

  7. If only the freaking Beltline from Glenwood down to Chosewood would get built out, I wouldn’t have to worry as much about traffic!

  8. If only they cared about the foods they serve to the public. Most of it is filled to the T with MSG which I consider a poison no matter what the FDA says.

  9. The commercialization of the Beltline is at its most obvious here. Fuqua has it weaving through both developments. The new plans show it running through the Chik-Fil-A drive through as well as the Waffle House kitchen…………

    1. Studies are currently underway looking into running the Beltline along the eastern side of Bill Kennedy Way instead of the western side where this project is located. It has the added benefit of not crossing the highway on/off ramps that way.

  10. I think it is Great that you are opening a Chick – fil- A this is my favorite fast food place.
I don’t know what that lady is talking about. It is the Best thing you could have ever Done.
I am so so Happy. Plus I stay right there in ENSO Apartments so now I can walk to Chick-fil-A, i LOVE IT.

  11. How on earth do these mixed use developements keep getting zoned? It has too many “anchors” for such a small location. With 700+ new people living there as well it will be such a disaster. I for one love CFA and use Kroger Gas but it’s just not realistic to put something like this in that location .

  12. To all the complainers about cars – the cars are not the root of the problem, they are the result of the problem – single family detached homes are the root of the problem. You cannot easily serve every single-family detached home with transit, especially when too many people have some stigma about riding the perfectly fine bus (the system needs some work, but it is working). So you force yourself to drive. If you live in Grant Park or Ormewood Park or East Atlanta and are complaining about cars, there is a HIGH probability that you live in a single family detached home, and you drive to other people’s neighborhoods now, to get your groceries. Please take a moment to reflect upon your current imposition on other neighborhoods. The giant grocery store is flanked by multi-story, multi-family, these people can WALK to Kroger and all of the eateries inside the complex, but if some lazy person drives across the parking lot form their apartment, it still won’t affect you. The fact that 3 Kroger stores now exist within a couple of miles of each other (the other 2 are less than 2 miles each from this new one), this new one will cannibalize patrons form the other two – reallocating traffic – more than likely you won’t leave your neighborhood to go shopping, except when you go to Whole Foods and Trader Joes in Midtown and complain about THAT traffic. And, yes, as density grows on Memorial and where it can south of 20, people will have to choose which store to go to. There will be traffic where there were only concrete trucks before, but if you do the math, it’s not likely to be the fiasco some are making it out to be. Oh and you know you eat at Chipotle, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-A, don’t deny it.

    1. Thanks Matt for the level headed breakdown. I try to shop independent as much as possible, but like most consumers I’ll go to the Starbucks instead if it’s on my way. I feel the same about the traffic. They said it would be horrible on Moreland before Edgewood and it is around 5 every evening, but most of the time it’s no different than any other time. Know another place they said would be ruined? Krog street, and I think it’s fine. Sure, there’s no “chain” stores there but plenty of recognizable names. If you plan to move out of the neighborhood, let me know. I’m looking for my next house…

    2. I do not live in the area but I LOVE WHAT THEY’VE DONE WITH THIS STORE…. I come all the way from Stonecrest area to shop at this Kroger and the Chick fil A was alright as well….. you can’t please everyone there will always be complainers #extremecouponer

  13. The following are the tenants to inhabit this travesty. All with about the same franchise quality of Walmart. Looks like they just changed the grocery store and kept the others. I suppose when you have the quality of tenants you have at Enso, this is about the best you’re going to get. I was certainly hoping to see far better tenants for the type of permanent residents that live in Glenwood Park.

This is clearly not going to be a destination stop. More like get your groceries and leave. Sad.

  14. We have been duped into the dream of the Belt Line and certainly shouldn’t be shocked when big corporate chains come along and saddle up next to it. How did we not see this coming? Look around at other areas that have been impacted by the belt line, Ponce area particularly. Traffic is worse than ever, it’s crowded, and many of the smaller establishments are in the process of being pushed out by more corporate chains. Gentrification brings disposable income, and the usual cast of characters will follow. I feel like I live in Buckhead again, and I left there for a reason!

  15. I’m glad to see this development. Much needed and the area is still being developed. So very glad to have Kroger gas by the house. New things just aren’t for some people and you can’t please everyone. Good tenant mix and think a good captain d’s or a steak n shake would be great in this area. Bring it on….
