What Now Atlanta was the first to break the news of Fry’s newest restaurant ventures in July.

The Optimist and will serve sustainable seafood prepared in a wood-burning oven.

Fry will also open a more casual spot next door, called Oyster Bar at The Optimist. Oyster Bar will be a “fish camp’” style eatery with an outdoor patio and live music, according to a press release.

Fry filed a permit with City of Atlanta for the construction of his new West Midtown restaurants, early November. The estimated cost for the build-outs is $500,000.00, according to the permit.

The name of Fry’s newest restaurants was suggested by his father, a sailing enthusiast. “Optimist,” in sailing, is the name of the sailboat, or dinghy, used by children.
