A new food truck and container park is being planned for a commercial strip in the West End Neighborhood, bringing walkable amenities to a largely car oriented area. The project, titled Westside Container Park filed a Special Use Permit application as of July 6th, 2021, and was reviewed by Neighborhood Planning Unit-T yesterday, August 12th. The project would feature approximately nine converted shipping containers, parked food trucks and new structures to provide a full service, ” open air event and social space where beer, alcohol and food are served” according to the project’s application. A site plan provided depicts numerous amenities included outdoor game spaces, twenty four picnic tables, cabana spaces, fire-pits, bathrooms and more. The anticipated operational hours would be 2pm-10pm Wednesday and Thursday, and 12pm-12am Friday through Saturday.

The project is located just south of Oak Street SW and east of Lee Street SW in the West End neighborhood, between a Church’s Chicken and Atlanta Fire and Rescue Station 7. The project is located on a parking lot which appears to have previously served a First Citizens Bank just to the south. The site is within walking distance of the Mall West End, several newer housing developments and Spelman College.

The site plan was prepared by Atlanta-based Ryan Alexander Studios, who specializes in hospitality, adaptive-reuse and historic preservation. The owners are listed as Oak Street Partners, LLC, a private equity real estate firm based in Chicago, Illinois, who manage funds for a variety of public, corporate, and private investors.
