Cibo E Beve takes space near Food 101

Cibo E Beve (pronounced chee-boh), an authentic Italian restaurant, is opening in Sandy Springs.

The Italian restaurant located at 4969 Roswell Road is slated to open in June under the owners of 101 Concepts, whose restaurants include Food 101 and Meehan’s Public House.

Cibo will replace the now shuttered Crown and Anchor Pub located a few doors down from Food 101 in the Belle Isle Square shopping center.

Atlanta-based design firm Ai3, is designing the space which can be described as a “gateway between old-world Italy and a modern culinary experience,” according to Cibo’s website.

Linda Harrell, the restaurant’s chef, will make everything from scratch including breads, pizzas, pastas and desserts, the website notes.

We asked Sandy Springs resident June Carlson, who was leaving Food 101 Tuesday after eating lunch, what she thought about Cibo opening up nearby.

“I didn’t know it was going to be Italian,” Carlson said. “Now I’m really excited. I’m from New York so I love Italian food and there isn’t any around here.”

East Cobb resident Caroline Barb, who works across the street from the location, told What Now Atlanta Tuesday she’s pleased with any new healthy lunch options.

“No fast food,” Barb said.

Steve Buero, Cibo E Beve owner, was not immediately available for comment.

  1. What’s the difference between this “authentic Italian restaurant” and just a plain run of the mill “Italian restaurant”? There may be some sarcasm there, but I’m also curious how they will differentiate themselves from the dozens of Italian restaurants from the Southern Italian places like Ippolitos to the Northern Italian places like Veni Vidi Vici and Pricci.

No Italian food? What a dumass. La Pietra Cucina, Sotto Sotto, Ecco, Tavola, Il Localino, all those places mentioned above, etc etc… she must be from UPSTATE NY. It’s morons like this who does not go out to eat much and says crap like this bc she only goes to crappy restaurants near her house in Sandy Springs. I mean, she eats at Food 101. ATL is not a culinary city but Italian can be found anywhere and everywhere, good or bad, well mostly bad.

  3. I got the opportunity to taste one of the dishes from Cibo E Beve at the Sandy Springs Farmer’s Market last week. It was phenomenal! We are always happy to hear about new restaurants in Sandy Springs.
