FLIP Burger Boutique, created by Top Chef Richard Blais in 2008, located at 1587 Howell Mill Road served its last burger at this location yesterday. According to owner Joseph Hsiao, the popular spot will be relocating to another space in the Midtown area. “We’re in talks with Cartel properties right now to go into another spot, so we’re just seeing what they have available,” Hsiao told What Now Atlanta.

Flip‌ ‌Burger‌ ‌owned and occupied the space. ‌According to Hsiao, Cartel Properties owned the building before selling it to his company H Restaurant Group, which owns five restaurants in Atlanta including Pisano’s‌ ‌Pizzeria‌ ‌&‌ ‌Italian‌ ‌Kitchen‌ ‌in‌ ‌Kennesaw‌ ‌and‌ ‌The‌ ‌Flying‌ ‌Biscuit‌ ‌Cafe‌ ‌in‌ ‌Candler‌ ‌Park. Hsiao acquired the FLIP brand from Blais in 2018.

“So the new tenants are coming to put in their own concept. And then for us, we’re just gonna go into another space closer to our flying biscuit Midtown location because we’ll get better rent,” Hsiao said.

Kechia Matadin, who owns Blu Seafood House and Cirque Daiquiri Bar and Grill, is now the new owner at 1587 Howell Mill Road, according to Steve Josovitz with The Shumacher Group who brokered the transaction. “She will be coming in with a new concept that will be different from her other restaurants. She says she is still contemplating on what concept she will bring to the location,” Hsaio said.

According‌ ‌to‌ ‌Hsaio,‌ ‌the‌ ‌area’s size, location, and outdoor patio attracted the new owner. “The numbers just worked out really well. We were able to get it under contract within a week.”
