DiveBar To Bring Bar Hopping Back To Buckhead?
DiveBar, an extreme sports bar with two levels, is slated to open by the end of March 2010. Taking the shuttered Tabú Boutique space located next to Genki Sushi in Buckhead Village on Roswell road, demolition began a few days ago. Yosaf Gevletasdik, a valet for nearby restaurants since 2003, recalls Tabú Boutique closing two and a half years ago.
William Allen, DiveBar owner, scouted out this 2400 square foot space four to six months ago and surprisingly found that the restaurant and mercantile space in this strip mall have usable basements. Allen says that DiveBar will consist of a retro dance club on one level, and the extreme sports bar on the other.
Partnered with Red Bull on point of sale, DiveBar will only serve alcohol. There will however, be a hot dog stand outside. Allen describes the stand as a separate entity for the neighborhood. DiveBar will operate daily beginning at 4pm.
