The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority, owner and operator of Cobb Galleria Centre, announced the news.
Cobb Galleria Centre is a convention center that hosts trade shows, meetings and special events. The renovation and expansion project is scheduled to break ground in fall 2025 and be complete in early 2027.
Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio has been named the project architect, Holder Construction will be the construction manager, and Impact Development Management will serve as owner’s representative and project manager.
Vice Chairman of the Authority and long-time Southeast commercial developer Bob Voyles said he has worked with each of these firms in the past.
“In my 19 years serving on this Authority, this is the most exciting and consequential project since we built the 2,750-seat Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in 2007,” Voyles said in a statement. “Once completed in early 2027, the rejuvenation and expansion of the convention center will assure that our facility remains No. 1 in the state of Georgia and maintains its high national standing for similar sized facilities.”
Current plans for the project include creating a new two-story grand entryway, a junior ballroom to complement the existing ballroom, two outdoor event courtyards and gardens and new connected parking with covered access to the facility.
There will be an addition of 13,000 square feet of meeting space with enhanced technology, as well as extensive renovation of existing convention space, the concourse, the rotunda and the ballroom. Demolition of Galleria Specialty Shops and the second-floor meeting rooms is also in the planned scope of work.
Cobb Galleria Centre has 320,000 square feet of event space, four exhibition halls, 20 meeting rooms, four executive boardrooms and a grand ballroom. The venue had more than 221,000 visitors to 213 events in 2023, resulting in an overall economic impact of $145 million, according to a news release.
Upcoming events at the center include Sneaker Con, the Atlanta Women’s Expo, Culture Collision, and the Ultimate RV Show.
