Early Renderings Emerge For Fuqua’s 905 Memorial Drive

A very Fuqua project so far.

A very fuqua project so far.

Early plans for Fuqua’s 905 Memorial Drive mixed-use project at the Leggat & Platt site were recently discovered on a marketing flyer on Vantage Realty’s website. Vantage is leasing the project.

Fuqua Development’s 17-acre project will include 50,000 SF of retail and restaurant space anchored by a grocery store and a theater (revealed earlier this year to be Sprouts and Cinebistro, respectively).

Additionally, the property will feature a large-scale fitness center, restaurants, apartments, senior housing and condos.

Although Vantage is using these rendering in their marketing materials, Reynoldstown neighborhood leaders say that plans have changed, but updated renderings will not be released until discussions have been finalized.

Towards the end of last year, the Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League sent a letter to interested developers advising that the Leggat & Platt site be divided up from its current “superblock” state in favor of a more urban design with smaller blocks:

“We love our streets, we love them small and gridded. As you may know, there are many other adopted city documents over the last decade that extol the virtues of smaller blocks; we truly hope this idea comes as no surprise to you or your designers.”

While a tipster told Curbed Atlanta earlier this year that Fuqua’s plans for the Leggett & Platt site are “remarkably favorable considering” what the community is “used to seeing from his company,” time will tell how residents react to the initial plans – which are remarkably Fuqua.

  1. This isn’t correct. This was a first draft and we are probably nearing a fourth draft. This post would have been great info like 3 months ago. As of May 2016, it is outdated.

  2. Oh shocking, another dump of a project from Fuqua. I’m sure the multi-family is already sold off to Greystar or somebody. Nothing mixed use about this. Just pure garbage

  3. What the hell makes this any different from 800 Glenwood? I am so sick of this expected…and tired…concept from Fuqua. Is this the only hideous design crap they know how to produce? I drove through the 800 Glenwood development late yesterday. All I can say is, boring, sterile and generic! And 905 Memorial appears to be no different! If readers of this thread have not yet done so, go ride/walk through 800 Glenwood and see if you agree. Southeast Atlanta, with its rich historical, architectural aesthetic deserves better than this “hot mess” concept. And the most annoying part is, I think Fuqua could care less about an area’s historical significance or residents’ concerns. I think LisaPizza has it right.

  4. Jeff is sitting pretty in his new house off West Paces Ferry – far away from these messes.

  5. I heard that the Sprouts was changed to Publix. Does anyone know if that is correct? I was so looking forward to Sprouts so that I would not have to travel across town and fight the crazy traffic at Whole Foods. Publix does not do it for me.
