This salon really blows. And that’s a good thing.

Drybar, a chain of blow-dry salons, is opening its first Atlanta location.

The Los Angeles-based company is opening a 1,500-square-foot salon in Buckhead, according to a permit filed with the city of Atlanta.

The new blow-dry salon will be located at 100 West Paces Ferry Road in the Buckhead Village. The salon’s renovation will cost about $60,000.

The concept is simple: “No cuts. No color. Just blowouts, for only $35.”

The salon features a “menu” of blow-out styles like the Mai Tai and Cosmopolitan. While getting a blow-out, customers can sit at the marble bar, get a complementary wine, champagne, coffee or tea, according to Drybar’s website.

  1. YESSSSS!!! This concept is GENIUS. Yes, Kat, for ONLY $35 you can get an incredible, styled blowout that will honestly last for days; even if you get some help from dry shampoo on day 2 or 3. Honestly. You’ll see! (and no, I don’t work for them.) I’m psyched.

  2. They have these in NY and they are awesome! If you don’t feel like styling your hair, you go, relax, and your are ready for the evening!

  3. Best idea that I’ve heard in a long time. Can’t wait to try it next time that I’m in Atlanta

  4. $35 seems like a fair price for a, um, blowout. Who wouldn’t want a blowout at that price? Sure there are less expensive blowouts, but you don’t want to pick up some stranger on a streetcorner for a blowout when you can visit a bar.

  5. Yes! And yes to “only” $35. You can’t get a blowout at Great Clips for less than $25 and there is no comparison to a professional blow out. I am so, so psyched! But the most important question is WHEN??

  6. For the guys in the audience like me, can someone explain what this is? I read the article by @JonC, but still don’t know what a “blowout” is. Is it pretty much hair styling? Do women come in with wet hair and say “Go”?

    I’m not cynical or anything — obviously there’s a market if it’s a chain — I just really don’t know what they’re doing in there 🙂

  7. Sounds interesting but you can get a blowout next door at Van Michael in the same price range from a real hairdresser.

  8. Can we say deathmarch? I think it is a good concept. However, with the high cost of rent for buckhead in a prime location as well as cost such as utilities, insurance, employees etc. may be too little to just sell their services for only $35.00. Also, they are expanding WAY to fast. Debt can kill businesses overtime so this may become an issue if they have a few under performing stores. I’ll give it 2 years.

  9. This has to be for Caucasian women only cause the stylist would be puzzled on how to do a black women’s hair especially if she has a natural. Price sounds reasonable but they would not have a clue what to do with my hair!!!

  10. Ricky – a blowout includes a wash and professional blow dry. I know it sounds insane and silly, but there is no substitute. Hair looks good for three days (seriously – and it’s better to not wash for a few). Many women do it before an event because a style will last. When I get my hair cut and styled it always looks great for two days, but I’m not going to spend my money on the full monty each time. $35 is a steal. And JP I can’t speak to that (my stylist is on other side of town and charges MUCH more for a blowout) but the concept of drybar is amazing. If you’ve seen them in LA you’d be amazed!

  11. Everyone of the guys leaving a comment on here are simply ignorant. First of all, you guys have no hair to be worried about , and I imagine most of the comments came from old, Alopecia areata, or completely bald, raggedy ass losers who wouldn’t spend money on a healthier meal that didn’t come from the drive-thru. This is a concept to create much healthier, stronger, silkier, flowing locks of hair. (Since it is being done by a professional who is caring for your hair rather than brushing it like its a horsetail) In fact, it will also create more time for women, if the lady is not in the home for an hour fixing her hair than she has more time to do other necessary things. This applies to none of the men addressed earlier, since they wouldn’t be lucky to have a women who cared about her looks anyway.

  12. I can see droppin’ $35 for a blowout before a special night out or a big work event. But I can’t figure out how some ladies go without washing their hair every day. I have to or else I feel disgusting. Physically, my hair gets greasy and flat, but also, I just FEEL gross knowing I have nappy 3-day-old hair. Am I missing a special product that I should use to prevent this?

ANYWAY, back to Drybar – stupid name; cool concept. I’ll try it.

  13. BTW – daisy, your comment just made me cackle in my office. It wasn’t a nice thing to say, but DAMN was it funny.

  14. I hate to burst this bubble, but the first blow dry salon in Atlanta opened up about a week ago in a neigborhood called Brookhaven. The salon is called Blo Beauty Bar, it’s right off Apple Valley Road. I went last and I loved the customized look Marian Mendenhall created for me. She was very helpful with product knowledge and the price was very resonable. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for an affordable personal stylist, lol. I myself have an event next week and will be back in to see her.

  15. I agree with Stacey. I had an appointment at Blo Beauty Bar in Brookhaven last week and it was awesome!!!! The staff was amazing and I left looking fantastic. Marian is by far the best hair and makeup stylist in Atlanta. Sorry guys and gals, but they have them beat. Plus I met the Owner and she is a native of Atlanta so come on guys…let’s support one of our own! Everyone should def. check them out 🙂

  16. I don’t think this blow dry place is going to make it. Van Michael is known for being an outstanding salon and its right across the street! Their blowdrys start at $28.
