“Sadly, we regret to inform you that Don Antonio in Buckhead has closed,” the New York-based pizzeria announced in a Facebook post Thursday.

“We truly enjoyed Atlanta, felt embraced by the community & thank you for your patronage.”

Don Antonio has locations in New York and Napoli, and has since removed the pizzeria’s Atlanta location from its website.

No word on what will replace the Buckhead pizzeria.

  1. Total bummer. Fantastic food and service. The flavor profile of their pizza was spectacular. I think the problem was the location. It was a little hidden there.

  2. No question that the location is problematic, but many of the problems were of their own making, as often mentioned in yelp reviews (mine included):
    restaurant or bar? restaurants don’t typically have large screen tvs
    wine pricing; pizza and red wine go very well together; need to have reasonably priced options (including potentially by the carafe); my recollection was that the least expensive red was $46 (they also had a $20 corkage fee)
    ambiance; busy vibe is key, busy won’t happen because of 1 and 2.
    If there is any restaurant in town that they should and could have emulated (imo), it would have been Osteria 812.

  3. Pathetic. Places open and close too quickly around here. What gives? I just don’t think people make enough around here to support fine dining establishments.
