How Dead Is Dead?– Nearby Restaurant’s Were Unaware of This Closure.

What ever happened to borrowing cups of sugar from neighbors?

Doc Greens Gourmet Salads and Grill closed last Friday, July 31 at 782 Ponce De Leon avenue northeast.

Similar to our report on Vino Libro closing in Glenwood Park, Doc Greens closing is the equivalent of an elderly neighbor falling down three flights of stairs, breaking her hip and dying because the batteries on her Life Alert are dead.

Searching for further detail on this closure, we immediately began questioning nearby restaurant staff. Employees of Dugan’s, a sports bar located directly across the street, all shared the same response: “Doc Greens is closed?” Upon looking through the window: “Wow. Doc Greens is closed.”

Other Doc Greens in town were also unaware that the Ponce location had closed. An employee justified this by stating that each Doc Greens was under different ownership. Rumor has it that the owners of this Doc Greens will reopen the space as The Real Chow Baby, New American Stir Fry.

So how dead is dead? When you’ve died, people see you’ve died, but they still don’t know your dead. Key learning: be a kind neighbor and let others know your business has expired.

  1. Good riddance. Horrible fit for the location. The last thing Ponce needs is another chain in Chow Baby. How about a locally owned/operated spot. Bring back Chez Ponce or Tortilla’s.

  2. i used to work here. i bounced last summer when things really started getting bad, i.e. staff walking off the job, water pipes leaking into the dining area, unsanitary conditions, oh .. and the repo’d fake plants. And the dishwasher…. yeah…. so why on EARTH are they letting the “owner” (who is about far removed from the operation as possible) open another doom from the beginning disposable franchise?! Anyway, good riddance.
