For the last 16 years, Divan has served flavorful Persian and Mediterranean cuisine on Piedmont Road in Atlanta. Favorites like Duck Leg Confit, Turkey and Pistachio Kufta, Persian Spiced Lamb Chops, and Basil Caramelized Sea Scollops have earned the eatery quite a following, so much so that Divan often has to close their Open Table reservation platform early in the evening because there just isn’t enough space to accommodate more guests.

Dining space is the primary deciding factor behind the restaurant’s opening at Midtown’s The Castle, also known as Fort Peace.

“16 years of operation on its own is the main reason we saw the need to move and expand our operation to a larger facility. Being favorited by thousands of our fans over the life of our restaurant brings us a constant flow of customers who cannot be accommodated in our current location any longer,” wrote owner Max Mansoor Lofti in an email to What Now Atlanta. “This new location is much bigger and gives us the opportunity to offer our fans what we were not able to offer previously due to the logistic issues.”

Divan Restaurant recently finalized plans to open at 87 15th St. NE. There, Lofti will focus on providing diners with the space and comfort the Buckhead location lacks. “We are able to offer spacious dining, many private rooms, and patio dining to enhance our customers experience,” wrote Lofti. Lease intel obtained by What Now Atlanta indicates the new restaurant space will provide 11,935 square-feet for Divan to work with.

Lofti hopes for a mid-December opening

Don’t worry though, the flavors you know and love remain constant at The Castle. “We take pride in keeping our menu consistent in its perfect entirety. Our menu is 16 years old, well thought and well prepared,” Lofti added. The menu features many locally-sourced ingredients as well as those sourced from Divan’s sister company in the Middle East, Persianbasket.

It remains unclear if The Castle will be an outpost or a relocation for Divan. Lofti could not be reached for clarification at the time of publication.
