Capital Tacos, the nationally recognized and award winning Tex-Mex brand out of Tampa, FL, is set to re-enter the Atlanta market with three corporate-owned locations opening through the fall, as first reported by local media outlet ToNeTo Atlanta, and confirmed during a phone call with Capital Tacos’ co-founder Josh Luger.

“We’ve had folks visiting from Atlanta for years, asking time and again when they can expect the concept to expand close to them,” Luger tells What Now Atlanta. “That wait is finally over! We’re very excited and humbled to be opening our first brick-and-mortar locations in Johns Creek, Peachtree Corners, and Newnan. This is just the first of many locations we plan to bring Atlanta residents in the coming years.”

The Peachtree Corners location will open in the Village at Peachtree Corners shopping center at 5270, Peachtree Parkway, while Capital Tacos Johns Creek will take up residence at 11160 Medlock Bridge Rd. The Newnan outpost, due to be the third of the openings later this year, has not yet been released, according to an unnamed source “closes to the leases” and cited by ToNeTo Atlanta.

The string of openings marks Capital Tacos second entry into the Atlanta market, after an initial attempt was unsuccessfully made last year, albeit through a satellite program in collaboration with CloudKitchens.

To be sure, however, given that the brand has garnered numerous awards during its decade in operation – including Top 2 Place to Eat in Tampa from Yelp, The Top Taco in Florida from Delish, and Top 3 Taco in America from Foursquare – it’s clear that the concept works, and should prove more successful with Luger and co-founder James Marcus at the helm.

Though Capital Tacos wears the Tex-Mex designation proudly, its menu extends well beyond the cuisine’s traditional offerings, with more inspired and unique creations such as the Chapel’s Cheesesteake made with shaved steak grilled in a melted three-cheese blend, onions and peppers, garlic mayo, cilantro, and cotija cheese, The Mc YumYum featuring adobo chicken, bacon, and housemate chorizo topped with corn salsa, jack and cheddar cheeses, pico de Gallo, and poblano ranch, and the Catawampus, a deep fried chicken taco prepared with queso, lettuce, pice de Gallo, jack and cheddar cheeses, and poblano ranch.

As the company writes on its website, “Capital Tacos was born from a quest to deliver one thing — unique and heavenly Tex-Mex flavor — to your taste buds. We’ve been at it a few years. But this journey has really only begun.”
