A few low-slung buildings between 3rd and 4th Streets on Spring are planned to be razed soon, according to plans for demolition filed with the city this week.
The forthcoming demolition work would make way for The Standard – the latest in a string of student housing developments in Midtown.
At the site, the description for work is “demolition of four commercial buildings,” and for the remaining Starbucks building to be demolished “on a later date.”
However, it is unclear whether four or five buildings are on the chopping block, as the description reads:
“Bldg1 9600sf, Bldg2 10275sf, Bldg3 7697sf, Bldg4 5825sf, Bldg5 8377sf.”
Per the Midtown Development Tour, the addresses of the project include 708-738 Spring Street, so it’s probably safe to assume the five buildings south of Starbucks will be demolished.
Latte lovers need not fret, as the Starbucks will be resurrected in The Standard, evidenced in the renderings and plans.
The development would feature 280 furnished apartments and 11,200 square feet of retail.
