“We have enjoyed a positive, successful relationship with Ross over the years, and we’re thrilled the company chose Pinetree Plaza for this dd’s store,” Benjamin Halpern, Halpern’s regional leasing director, said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to continuing to serve the community’s needs as we bring more retail and restaurant options to the center.”

DD’s will open its new Doraville storefront in fall 2021 “at the earliest,” a Halpern spokesperson Friday told What Now Atlanta. It will be the sixth outpost for the chain in Georgia, all of which are ITP with the exception of a Marietta outpost.

Halpern Enterprises has owned, leased, and managed Pinetree Plaza for more than 60 years. It is home to Supermercado Chicago, LanZhou Ramen, Bo Bo Garden Asian Cuisine, Dim Sum Heaven, Mango Mango, and I-CE-NY. Pinetree Plaza is also home to Mundo Hispánico, Atlanta’s largest Spanish-language newspaper, which moved into Halpern’s former office headquarters in 2018.

  1. Didi’s has had a store about a mile south on Buford hwy, in the Northeast Plaza shopping center. Presumably that store will be closed, or do they think the market can support that density? They might say yes. Both Northeast Plaza and Pinetree have Dollar Tree stores and the customer base should be similar.

    1. It’s more like 5 miles. I expect they’ll keep both. Northeast Plaza location does plenty of business. If anything, these locations together would cannibalize the customers of the Plaza Fiesta Ross location more so than each other.
