Darius Williams, a popular YouTube chef and cookbook author, has closed all three of his restaurants: Soul Crab locally in College Park, and Chicago, and Westview’s Greens and Gravy.
Williams announced the news Monday on social media via his “verified” accounts as first reported by Eater Atlanta.
“Fam, wanted to take a quick moment to let you know that last night was our last night of business for all three restaurants,” Williams wrote on his personal Instagram page.
“I know this is sudden and a shock, so I apologize. Wanted to say thank you for everyone that supported the fried chicken, crab legs, fried lobster, and most importantly, my crazy vision. I love y’all—for real.”
Sunday, February 9, 2020, was the last day of service for all three eateries.
Williams on Monday did not immediately respond to calls and texts from What Now Atlanta seeking comment on the sudden closures.
Williams reportedly owes $145,750 as part of a “settlement with the state, which alleges Above 701,” the chef’s parent company, “marketed or sold and received payment for ‘services aimed at improving a buyer’s credit record and history or rating’ without providing the actual service,” according to Eater.
It’s unclear if those charges forced the restaurateur to pull the plug on all three restaurants.

never agree with credit repair companies, educate people they can do it themselves if they really want to
That’s really frustrating to hear. His food was really good. Seems really slimy to hear he was tied up in those kinds of activities, scamming vulnerable people out of money to fix their credit. Perhaps this will be a wake up call for him and develop a better ethos that supports his brand in the future.
