Dantanna’s has closed its downtown restaurant, situated inside the CNN Center, after 12 years in business.

The restaurant and sports bar, at One CNN Center Ste. 269, announced the news on its Facebook page Tuesday.

“Due to the societal changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision to close our downtown location in CNN Center,” Co-Owners David Clapp and Jay Kazlow wrote on the social media site.

“After more than a decade of success, serving old and new friends, we do not feel our business model of hosting large parties and groups is sustainable, at least in the foreseeable future. We will be focusing all our efforts on our original Dantanna’s location in Buckhead at the Shops Around Lenox and hope to see you there very soon (we are open for dine-in, patio seating, and takeout).

Dantanna’s, as with other Atlanta businesses, has been closed since mid-March to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The restaurant and sports bar joins an ever-growing list of restaurants and retailers to permanently close citing financial hardships brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak.

“We want to sincerely thank you, and the wonderful people at Turner Properties, for your support of Dantanna’s Downtown over the last decade, and for your ongoing support as we all rebuild together. Stay safe and healthy.”

  1. This location always had horrible service. These restaurants focusing on the pandemic as an excuse to close is becoming tiresome. They don’t foresee how their business model will work, but their Buckhead location will nonetheless remaining open? Doesn’t make any sense.

I’ve never been to this restaurant. It doesn’t look like something that would appeal to me. But I
      totally agree with you.

Some of these businesses that are closing “due to Covid19” are full of it. For quite a few, the writing has been on the wall for months or even years One of the problems is that they’ve gotten
complacent over their successes in years past, and have done nothing to improve their product or stay current with trends. They’ve also oversaturated the market and have become very pedestrian.

It’s a slap in the face to the many small businesses that have had to close because being closed for three months actually wiped them out!

  2. Downtown is emptying out and becoming a ghost town, all due to the Trump Pandemic, all because Trump lied about the pandemic, calling it a hoax and a flu and that cases would go to 0. Lock Him Up
