D.B.A. Barbecue is known for its smoked brisket and ribs and its menu consists of variety. However, D.B.A Sandwich Co. is trying something a little different — they’re simplifying their menu. Opening up at 660 Irwin St NE, D.B.A Sandwich Co. will offer a family-friendly, relaxing environment near Jake’s Ice Cream and Glide Pizza in the Irwin Street Market.
Their menu is quality over quantity, with 10 classic sandwiches made with their own, signature smoked meats. Most notably, D.B.A Sandwich Co. will have special deals, such as soups and tacos of the day, each featuring meat they smoke themselves. As for sides, they offer stovetop mac and cheese, potato salad, pasta salad, and salads you can add their delicious chicken to. Some menu items are also available at their original D.B.A. BBQ shop if you want to get a taste.
What Now Atlanta (WNA) spoke with the passionate Owner Matt Coggin about the opening, who feels immensely lucky he’s able to open D.B.A Sandwich Co. According to him, it’s all thanks to the support of his community.
“It’s amazing we’re coming out the other end of [the pandmic] with an opportunity,” Coggin told WNA. It wouldn’t happen if they didn’t have support from their guests and their neighborhood. Coggin says he’s in the business of hospitality to make people feel good and that hospitality has worked both ways, with his guests and community making him feel good as well. Coggin feels like they take care of each other.
D.B.A Sandwich Co. will occupy a small space, essentially the size of a kiosk that will house three employees — much smaller than D.B.A BBQ. Only minimal renovations are being done, mostly just for the sake of branding.
As of right now, Coggin said that D.B.A Sandwich Co. expanding isn’t the biggest thing on their mind, but the purpose of D.B.A Sandwich Co. was to expand their brand’s footprint while offering a simpler experience. D.B.A Sandwich Co. is planning on opening up November 1.
