Cubanos ATL Owner Ozzy Llanes designed and built the original Sandy Springs tiny house restaurant himself during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Llanes recently hired a company to begin framing the future tiny house restaurant and once the framing is completed, Llanes and his team plan to take over and complete the rest of the build themselves.

“After the quick success of the first location, I knew I wanted to introduce our authentic Cuban sandwiches and coffees to other Atlanta markets,” Llanes said in a press release. “In October, I began to scout potential areas for a second tiny house location. It did not take me long to decide on a location in Cumming, GA, off of GA-400 exit 14. I have a great network of friends in Cumming, GA, and my wife and I have always loved the area. I’m excited to open our second location there, along with providing more jobs to the neighborhood.”

Permits and zoning approvals pending, the new tiny house restaurant will be situated in a shopping center parking lot next to Jax Fine Wine and Spirits, at 928 Market Place Blvd. Llanes is aiming for a March 2021 opening.

Cubanos ATL Sandy Springs opened in August 2020 offering Cuban coffee along with a variety of Cuban sandwiches, breakfast items, and desserts that “complement” Llanes’ generational family recipes. Similar to his Sandy Springs location, Llanes plans to source local ingredients and only serve breakfast and lunch at the new Cumming location. All sandwiches will continue to be done on La Segunda Central Bakery bread — the “oldest” Cuban bread maker in the United States. Llanes has plans to rotate seasonal menu items at both Cubanos ATL locations.

“Operating out of a tiny house requires us to keep our menus simple, but allows us to focus on quality and sourcing the absolute best ingredients for our sandwiches and coffees,” Llanes said.
