As the city prepares to put the 19-acre Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center site on the market, a proposal for what could take its place surfaced Friday.

Atlanta City Council in June voted to sell the 47-year-old 380,000-square-foot Civic Center at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and Ralph McGill Boulevard.

Atlanta-based developer Carter is proposing for the site a mixed-use film and television studios with a performing arts center, a hotel, residential, office and retail, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle (ABC.)

Jim Jacoby, Atlantic Station’s developer, is already building such a development — Atlanta Media Campus & Studios, a mixed-use project “anchored by the largest film and television media complex outside of California.”

The master plan for Jacoby’s project includes media production studios, emerging media and high tech office space, higher education and research facilities, multifamily and student housing, supportive retail and an on-site hotel.
