Southern bean to bar chocolate
She may look menacing in her chocolate covered apron, but don’t let the splattering cocoa fool you.
Kristen Hard, founder and owner of Cacao Atlanta Chocolate Co., is one of Atlanta’s only true chocolate makers, making fresh chocolate here in Atlanta from bean to bar.
Currently with one Atlanta location in Inman Park at 312 C North Highland avenue, Hard will soon announce plans for a second boutique at 2815 Peachtree Road NE in Buckhead.
The new location is set to open by the end of January 2011 and will offer a concept different from the Inman Park location, according to Nadeen, an employee at Cacao.
Hard launched her chocolate concept in 2004 and has expanded to include e-commerce, wholesale, corporate and wedding components.
Her chocolate has received raves from foodies everywhere, locally from John Kessler with the AJC.
“If there is any magic afoot, it’s in Hard’s fantastic truffles that range in flavor from honey and ginseng to rosemary and cardamom.”
