Major Violations Reported
The health inspector who visited Chilispot noted down a list of violations that were observed at the restaurants. A summary of the non-compliance areas that directly impact food safety and have a higher potential to cause foodborne illness is given below:
- The person in charge (PIC) did not demonstrate active managerial control
- Bare hand contact with ready-to-eat food
- Lack of verifiable employee illness reporting
- Cross-contamination of raw and ready-to-eat foods
- TCS foods held at improper temperatures
- Lack of an approved disinfectant for vomit/diarrhea incidents

These violations come under the priority violations (P) or priority foundation violations (Pf). Overall, the inspector has pointed out an unhygienic environment at the restaurant. Multiple food items were to be stored directly on the floor. Personal items of employees were seen on prep tables and above facility food and equipment. Food items not labeled were another major issue.
Corrective Actions
Some of the issues were corrected during the inspections, while a few others are to be corrected in 10 days. The corrective actions that will have to be taken by them are:
- Person in charge of ensuring compliance with the food code by demonstrating active managerial control.
- All employees shall be informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report to the person in charge information about their health and activities
- Setting procedures for clean up during vomit or diarrhea incidents by approved methods.
- The most current inspection report is to be displayed in public view.
The follow-up inspection will be on January 17. Further, an additional inspection will take place in the next 12 months.
