Chef Mihoko Obunai and Concentrics Restaurants Monday announced plans for Nexto, a ramen noodle shop, in the Old Fourth Ward. The restaurant, at 822 Ralph McGill Blvd. N.E., is slated to open spring 2016 in space adjacent Two Urban Licks, a popular Concentrics concept.

“Obunai has been an integral part of the Atlanta culinary scene for quite some time,” Concentrics said in the announcement.

“Initially known for her restaurant Repast that she co-opened, Obunai’s career has been chronicled in esteemed publications such as Bon Appetit and Food & Wine Magazine.”

Obunai has quite the ramen history.

The chef was one of five “ramen masters” featured in the “First Annual Ramen Battle” at The tenth Annual StarChefs International Chefs Congress in Brooklyn, NY. Following this stint, Obunai later launched her own ramen pop-up “Mibo Ramen” nationwide. In 2014, Obunai launched another ramen pop-up at Atlanta’s Soundtable called “Ramen Freak.”

Aside from a claimed website, Facebook page, and Twitter account details for Nexto are scarce.

What Now Atlanta (WNA) did uncover these drawings of Nexto through WJG Design, Inc., the Atlanta-based architecture, interiors, and planning company, that is handling the ramen noodle bar’s permitting process:

  1. I can’t really visualize where this new place will be located. Will it have any frontage on the Atlanta BeltLine or only be accessible from the back parking lot off Ralph McGill?
