A house in one of Atlanta’s most happening neighborhoods has hit the market. The home was originally owned by the Bleckley’s, of Bleckley County, Georgia, of which family members include a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia and his son, one of the city’s most extravagant architects, Haralson Bleckley. Haralson was known for designing the viaducts throughout the city and creating Underground Atlanta.

On the market for only the third time in the house’s 109-year lifetime, original documentation of family history and artwork from that timeframe can be spotted throughout. Today, the historical home features early 20th century details with modern features, creating an inviting space in a bustling area of town.

Gated gardens welcome guests into the house and multiple indoor seating areas make the place perfect for entertaining. Prairie-style architecture, an enclosed, private breakfast nook, library with French doors, and grand staircase up to the master suite bring the house back to its original roots. Updated features modernize the home, such as the kitchen finished with top-of-the-line appliances and the exposed brick wall in the butler’s pantry. 717 House still exudes original 1900s character though designed for today’s lifestyle.

The property comes complete with three income producing opportunities. Attached to the 3-bed/3.5-bath main house are two guest suites with private entrances, living areas, a bedroom and bathroom. There is also a detached carriage house.

The listing just hit the market at $3,250,000. The main house is 5,425 square feet, including the two private guest suites. The carriage house is 1,043 square feet.

Situated just south of Piedmont Park and The Botanical Gardens and nearby to Peachtree Street and The Fox Theater, this location cannot be beat.

The home is listed through Charles Huff with Harry Norman, REALTORS® and is located at 717 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30308.

    1. “Money to burn” means spend excessive money on things not necessary. This amazing home has 3 rental units, 2 attached and 1 detached. Although the price may seem excessive, the income potential is sizable. As a neighbor, I watched the majority of this renovation, and know that the rental units are always occupied. Charles restored this gem painstakingly, no part of this property is ostentatious or excessive.
