Slated to replace The Federal (Bantam + Biddy before that) in Midtown, at 1080 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta’s new Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles will serve its hybrid dish namesake that combines breakfast and lunch, made with “crispy and juicy fried chicken paired with fluffy and golden waffles.” Waffles are available in original or for something a bit more unique, guests can order one bacon-flavored, according to the restaurant’s website.

Other menu items include Cheddar Drop Biscuits with whipped honey butter and strawberry preserves, Hot Skillet Cobbler desserts in apple or peach served with vanilla bean ice cream and salted caramel drizzle, the Saints & Sinners Brioche French Toast Log served with either bacon, sunny side eggs and crispy garlic potatoes or berries, whipped topping and chocolate sauce, and The Mac Attack Chicken Sandwich with crispy chicken breast, creamy mac & cheese, bacon, sriracha aioli and a toasted bun.

On the cocktail side of things, glasses of champagne come with sparklers and sharable brunch-y beverages are available by the carafe. Individual beverages are served in mason jars.

“Ne-Yo and I aim to make everyone feel at home at Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles, and you never know who you’ll see dining alongside you,” Redd says on the restaurant’s website. “Anyone who appreciates music will love the ambiance we created in our dining room, with awards and plaques from Ne-Yo, myself and some of our closest friends. Who doesn’t love some amazing chicken and waffles, while listening to some amazing music!…”

It’s unclear when Johnny’s Chicken & Waffles will open in 1010 Midtown one door down from the recently-shuttered RA Sushi. Reps for the restaurant have not responded to a request for comment.

  1. Can we stop with the hip-hoppitization of Midtown? Does everything need to be hookah or some new “twist” on brunch?

Where are some good craft cocktail bars, pubs, 24-hour diners, maybe a new gay bar or chill spo? Midtown is changing so much.

    1. im not a fan of hookah lounges but there are plenty of the other things you listed in midtown outside of 24hr diners

  2. Atlanta – home of the daquiri bar, hookah lounge and chicken and waffle joints – I think we need to start changing the culture
