Update – December 2, 9:20am: The closing sale has started and features 30 percent off on everything in the store until December 13, the store’s last day in business.

CB2‘s lone Atlanta location at 1080 Peachtree Street NE will shutter next month after a five-year run in Midtown.

“We’ll have a liquidation sale the first two weeks in December, and then we’ll close for good after that,” an employee at the store told What Now Atlanta (WNA). “There’s no hard date set yet, but it’ll be by mid-December.”

The home furnishings retailer first opened the location in 2010 and no plans have been announced for a relocation within the Atlanta area. The closing leaves CB2 with 10 remaining location across the United States, according to its website.

Crate & Barrel, CB2’s parent retailer, will continue to operate its locations in Buckhead and Alpharetta.

  1. I hope something else that cb be successful moves into that space. I love Crate & Barrel, but CB2 furniture is not high quality. It looks cool until you touch it and you can tell that it is not made to last. I don’t think the store’s failure is indicative anything more than that.

  2. A Flagship Crate & Barrel would be a much better fit for the center of Midtown Atlanta. Unfortunately, CB2 opened during the recession and was unappealing to people who want a lasting lifestyle. For decades, many I have known from Midtown, Ansley, Morningside, Druid Hills and Inman Park who have supported the Buckhead store. As it gets increasingly difficult to get to Buckhead, a large comfortable Midtown Crate & Barrel makes great sense. There are also increasingly affluent customers in Downtown, West Midtown, O4W, Grant Park, Edgewood and Reynoldstown who are great potential customers, who do not want to go to Buckhead for any shopping. Please keep that in mind as you, unfortunately, close your CB@ store in Midtown which is experiencing rapid growth. Thanks, your customer for decades..
