The drive-thru coffee chain is proposed for 919 Buford Drive, as indicated by building permit applications and construction documents. The site is home to a Checkers restaurant.
This won’t be the first time the coffee chain takes over the location of a fast-food restaurant. An upcoming Caribou Coffee in Griffin was also formerly a Checkers. The Kennesaw location used to be a Burger King, and the Loganville one used to be a Hardee’s.
The coffee drive-thru in Lawrenceville would be about 810 square feet. The company was recently seeking a general manager for the new store.
Caribou Coffee was founded in Minnesota in 1992. There are more than 800 locations worldwide, both corporate-owned and franchised. The menu includes a lineup of hot and iced espresso beverages, tea, energy drinks, and food items like breakfast and lunch sandwiches, bagels and pastries.
There are currently eight locations of Caribou Coffee in Georgia, plus two outposts at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
