The 265-room hotel will open in the historic Candler Building, at 127 Peachtree Street NE.
On the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel is a 17-story high-rise originally built in 1906 by Coca-Cola magnate Asa Griggs Candler as Atlanta’s first steel skyscraper.
The Candler will be the first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Atlanta, joining more than 65 other hotels and resorts around the world.
Ahead of its opening later this year, Highgate has announced the appointment of The Candler Hotel’s executive team members including Martin Wormull as general manager and Ann Collins as director of sales and marketing.
Wormull, a 30-year hospitality veteran, served as managing director at Marriott’s The Dalmar and Element Hotels in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Collins served as the Director of Sales and Marketing at The Georgian Terrace Hotel.
“We are thrilled to welcome Martin and Ann to the Highgate team and open our first Highgate-managed hotel in downtown Atlanta,” Steve Barick, COO of Highgate, said in the release.
“Their extensive background in luxury hospitality and guest experience will further the success of The Candler Hotel when its doors open this Summer.”
