Cafe Bora Korean dessert shop will be opening a 3,333-square-foot location in Duluth’s new Reynolds Point shopping plaza by July 2020.
It will be the first east coast storefront for the company.
“Bora,” the Korean name for “purple,” specializes in desserts such as tiramisu, bingsu (shaved ice), and ice cream made with purple sweet potato in fully edible arrangements that are almost “too pretty to eat,” Franchisee Hannah Son shared with What Now Atlanta on Tuesday of the most frequent customer compliment.
“We’re bringing in different flavors that people may not have tried and we’re focused on taste, health and presentation that’s 100 percent real with nothing like food coloring, flavoring agents or preservatives added to it,” Son said.
The purple that colors the sweet potato contains powerful cancer-fighting and anti-aging pigments called anthocyanin, also found in other fruits and vegetables like blueberries and blackberries, according to Son.
Currently, Cafe Bora is operating in South Korea, Canada, Thailand, and Los Angeles, California.
In addition to its planned Duluth location, an Alpharetta outpost is on deck.
“We are finalizing the lease for a location in Alpharetta, which could potentially open before Duluth because the one in Duluth is a brand new construction while the Alpharetta location is a remodel of an existing site.”
