Butter + Scotch, an Afro-Caribbean and Southern-inspired restaurant and bar, is halting its plans at the Origin Hotel Atlanta, a delayed hotel in South Downtown.

The concept, spearheaded by Chef Malik Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan, was intended to blend flavors and cultures in homage to Rhasaan’s upbringing in Queens, New York, with rich culinary traditions of the South. Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan are the duo behind the popular Atlanta restaurant Che Butter Jonez.

The announcement cites “unforeseen challenges” during the development process that led the team to make the decision to halt the project.

“Though Butter + Scotch will not open its doors, the team remains optimistic about future opportunities to bring their vision to life.”
