The owners of Big Sky Buckhead are opening Buena Vida Tapas & Sol on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail in late-2019, according to a press release Wednesday.
It will be housed in the forthcoming North and Line apartment complex in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta.
This will be the fifth hospitality project for Adam Berlin and Juan Calle.
Buena Vida will feature a menu influenced by Southern Spain, created through the owners’ travels and with influence from Chef Juan Hormiga, who will be relocating from Spain to Atlanta to helm the kitchen.
The beverage menu will include various cocktails and local beers, and Berlin is currently finishing his certification in Spanish wines which will be used to finalize the beverage program.
“We’ve been working on this concept for years, and started the design process over a year ago after Juan and I took a research trip to Spain and toured around with our chef, Juan Hormiga,” Berlin in an email told What Now Atlanta.
“We expect this to be something that Atlanta really hasn’t seen in terms of design and offerings.”
The space offers a patio cornered by the Beltline and opening onto Historic Fourth Ward Park.
The design is influenced by the enclaves of Ibiza and the south of Spain and the Mediterranean coast.
Meredith Petty is behind the restaurant’s design which will be furnished with many custom and handmade items imported from Europe and Turkey by Lotus Design LLC.
E + E Architecture is working with the team to finalize the space.
The design is light and airy with two-story windows and high ceilings around the bar, which opens both to the restaurant and to the patio, plants, “vibrant bohemian colors,” and contemporary art.
Buena Vida will seat approximately 190 guests, including 50 patio seats.
Interior space is 6,500 square feet with 1,500 square feet for the patio.
North and Line is a mixed-use development and Buena Vida will be the only retail concept in the building, comprised of apartments.
