Danny Meyer, NYC restaurateur and author of the New York Times Best Seller Setting The Table, and Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), in a press release Friday announced Shake Shack will open an Atlanta restaurant.

The Shack is coming to Buckhead Atlanta, at 3035 Peachtree Road, in mid-2014.

“Atlanta is such a vibrant and growing city, and it has been on our radar for some time,” Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO, said in the release.

“We’re delighted to bring Shake Shack to such a thriving area in Buckhead along Peachtree Road.”

Born in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2004, Shake Shack is a modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100 percent all-natural Angus beef burgers, flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, craft beer and wine, and more.

With its fine dining heritage, Shake Shack is an integral part of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group which owns and operates some of New York City’s most celebrated restaurants: Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, The Modern at the Museum of Modern Art, Maialino, North End Grill, Blue Smoke, Jazz Standard, and Untitled at the Whitney.

Union Square Hospitality Group has earned 25 James Beard Awards.

  1. As long as the Shake Shack doesn’t make the same mistake of Five Napkin Burger, another NYC import, and expect Atlantans to spend $15 for hotdogs and $17 for hamburgers, they might be ok.

  2. Are they insane? If the map location is correct, they are going to plop down a Shake Shack – notorious for its loooooong lines and loooong wait to get your food in Central Park – on a Peachtree Road spot where there is no free parking and no easy way in or out, instead of looking at the giant flat lot with one abandoned building on it just a block further up? The traffic is going to be an unholy mess. In a town with a million burgers, this one had better sing and fly to justify the nonsense this is going to cause.

  3. I think until I see the finished product at Buckhead Atlanta, I won’t speculate on how bad the traffic will be. I hope this is a place everyone can WALK to. I hope they make Buckhead Atlanta very WALKABLE. That means building a parking area or areas on the outskirts of Buckhead Atlanta and making the entire development a WALKING experience so we don’t have to be dodging cars.

  4. Big fan of Shake Shack and I’m excited to see them coming to Atlanta. Though lines will be insane for the first few months.
