UPDATE (Jan. 25): Aveda Institute to open at Brookwood Place in Borders space

Borders Books and Music will close their Brookwood Place location.

An employee at the book retailer located at 1745 Peachtree Street NE confirms Borders will shutter at the end of February.

The bookstore is currently offering 20 percent off as an “everything must go sale.” That figure is expected to rise as the closing dates nears, according to that same employee.

The bookstore sits between two other Borders stores, one in Midtown and the other in Buckhead, each with bigger selections of merchandise.

Borders opened at Brookwood Place in 2003 as one of the original tenants.

The development is anchored by Kroger and other tenants include Spa Sydell and Viking cooking school and store.

Other recent closures at the development include Wolfgang Puck Express (now Baroni), Taurus restaurant, Swoozie’s and The Art Store.

Borders will keep their Buckhead location open, located just up the road at 3637 Peachtree Rd NE in the Buckhead Triangle Shopping Center.

  1. Not even former President George Bush and his lovely wife Laura could safe this store… They held a book tour stop at this location in December 2010.

  2. Surprised by this post without context about Borders nationwide situation. Borders is currently restructuring and most analysts expect them to declare bankruptcy within the month. Borders is currently way behind on payments to publishers and some book distributors have ceased deliveries. Borders has responded by directing the books it can get to its highest performing stores to boost profitability before an asset sale. So, the closing of Borders at Brookwood is part of a larger story; that should be reflected in any post about the closing of a single location.

They Gave Blood, Sweat and Tears-
True Stories of American Veterans from WW II to Operation Iraqi Freedom

“What the men in these stories did was an ultimate test of their character and fortitude. Their character speaks volumes as they reached heights never approached before. Many were from farms or small towns. Some withdrew from college and put their education on hold. They all left families and sweethearts behind. They knew what they were going to was much larger and important. What they were going to do had to be done and they would do it. Some came home perfectly fine while others took years to regroup and some would never be able to. Some were prisoners-of-war and some may never have seen battle. But all had served and did so without reservation.
These gentlemen are the real heroes in American history and everyday life; not television or movie stars, rockers or sports people. They are the ones that have helped preserve our liberties and the lives we have today. They are the ones that have lived and died for our freedoms abroad so we did not have to fight them on our ground.”
The stories in this book are true. They are taken from personal interviews with each of these 54 gentlemen.
I am a Coast Guard veteran who served during the Vietnam War and thoroughly enjoyed interviewing these men.
This book will be available August 7, 2011 from traditional book purchasing websites such as Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, bookstores, etc. and through the publisher, PublishAmerica, at PublishAmerica.com. It will also be available through ebooks. Would you be interested in carrying this new book?
Their stories and their sacrifices need to be heard.
    Thank you,
    Bill Hall
