Black Tie Barbecue and neighboring businesses were forced to relocate from the Historic District Shopping Center when its landlord decided to transform the plaza into self-storage.

Spencer Humphrey, owner of the full service catering company, told What Now Atlanta Monday there’s a high possibility that the catering company’s new location will offer lunch and dinner to the public on occasion, something the old space wasn’t suited for.

“We did lunches during the summer at our last location, but the space just wasn’t public friendly,” Humphrey said. “It was a little too urban.”

Black Tie Barbecue will reopen in East Point this November replacing the now shuttered White Elephant Thai Restaurant, located across the street from Thumbs Up Diner.

The Village Theatre, which was also located at the Historic District Shopping Center, is relocating to the Pencil Factory Lofts Downtown.

Where (if at all) other Historic District Shopping Center tenants will reopen has not been confirmed.

  1. The Village Theater hasn’t moved to the Pencil Lofts yet. They are in a new location within the Historic District shopping center however.

  2. This has nothing to do with this post, but I wanted to know if anyone knows why El Pollo Loco closed down on Buford Highway. I love that place and now I can’t get my lunch fix. Will it be re-opened under new ownership?

  3. …why El Pollo Loco closed down on Buford Highway

Because it was nasty and the service was poor. That salsa bar was exceptionally crusty.

  4. Well, they should have shut down KFC before El Pollo Loco…but I heard that all El Pollo Loco stores in the state of Georgia shut down due to the “economic climate.”
