Go on a run and indulge in both fitness and hot chocolate at the post-run party this wintertime in Atlanta. The USA TODAY Hot Chocolate Run Atlanta is back with its indulgent season yet. Racing for the finish line or just in it for the chocolate, this year’s event promises fun for everyone.

The 5K and 15K races will be held on February 2, 2025. There will also be the Hot Chocolate Expo which takes place on January 31 and February 1, with chocolate, merchandise, and more.

USA TODAY Hot Chocolate Run is a unique experience for seasoned runners and beginners. This unique race rewards its finishers with indulgent, chocolate-filled fun. The race will start and end at the Centennial Olympic Park.

Participants of the Hot Chocolate Run can choose between the 5K and 15K runs. During the run, they will pass by iconic Atlanta Landmarks like the Mercedes Benz Stadium, GWCC, and the Georgia Aquarium. The 15K runners will also see the City Hall, the Olympic Torch, Old Turner Field/Hank Aaron Wall, Grant Park, Georgia Tech Campus, Bobby Dodd Stadium, and more on their way to the finish line. 

The Award-Winning Swag Kit is given to everyone who registers for the race and is another of its features. The Exclusive Hot Chocolate Run Jacket and the commemorative Finisher’s medal are part of the swag kit.

High-resolution photos of the race and the race times of all the runners will be emailed to them soon after they cross the finish line. The photos and the professional timings will be included in the ticket; no need to pay extra.

All the runners will move on to the Post-run party after the race at the park. The party will be a Chocoholic paradise. There they will get their finisher’s mug filled with fondue, dippables, and hot chocolate (included in the ticket). There will be music to party to and vendors as well.

The top 3 male and female winners in the 5K and 15K will be announced on the DJ stage at the Post-run party. The winners will have 100% off for next year’s registration and will also win a 40% merch coupon that will be emailed 3 to 4 weeks after the race.

There will also be awards for the 1st Place in each Age Group for the 5K and 15K. They will also get 100% off on next year’s registration and the 40% merch coupon. The Age Groups for the race are U14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.

Hot Chocolate Expo

The run day will be preceded by the Hot Chocolate Expo on January 31 and February 1. Visitors will be able to indulge in delicious chocolate, check out the Hot Chocolate merchandise, and different vendors selling all sorts of items. 

The runner’s kit with race day swag and bib will be distributed to the participants at the expo. The venue for the expo will be the Southern Exchange Ballrooms – The Cellar. 

Timings

The starting times for the Hot Chocolate Run 5k and 15k races on February 2, 2025, will be as follows:

  • 5K: 8:00 AM
  • 15K: 7:30 AM

Runners can report for the gear check that will open 60 minutes before start time.

The timings for the Hot Chocolate Expo on the expo days will be so:

  • January 31, 2025: 12 PM to 7 PM
  • February 1, 2025: 10 AM to 5 PM

Ticket Prices

Anyone older than 8 years for the 5K and 12 years for the 15K, can register for the Hot Chocolate Run online. The registration fee for the 5K run will be $69 and for the 15K run, it will be $84.00. 

Entry to the Hot Chocolate Expo is free for the public.

Registrants will also get an offer for a 1-Year USA TODAY Digital Subscription (as per terms and conditions). Those who join the Cocoa Club will have a VIP chocolatey experience. Dubbed “America’s sweetest run,” this USA TODAY Hot Chocolate Run will be full of chocolatey fun and great for enjoying with friends and family. The organizers have encouraged public transportation and carpooling for all participants. Parking is not allowed on the course, and any vehicle that does not adhere to the event’s “No Parking” signs will be towed and removed.
