Lenox Square in Buckhead saw the closure of a TYR store in January 2025. The store was opened only last and has been closed down for good. Reports suggest that the store, which was open till the end of last year, was barren by mid-January. The store was located on the first floor of the shopping mall, adjacent to Banana Republic and SKIMS stores.

TYR Sport is a California-based company that designs, develops, and manufactures competitive swim and triathlon apparel. They also sell related specialized athletic gear as well.

TYR Sport retail stores were opened at several locations across the country, since the launch of the retail store division in 2023. However, as per the company website, only one of the stores at Fashion Valley, San Diego, is currently open.

Moose Knuckles

In another store closing at Lenox Square, Moose Knuckles, the Canadian outerwear brand, closed their store in mid-January. The store, located at the ground level of the upscale mall alongside Savage X Fenty and UNTUCKit, was opened in November 2022. The store had offered its merchandise at a 50% discount before the final closing date.

The Lenox Square location of Moose Knuckles was its 11th store in the United States. The space was designed by the Tokyo-based architectural firm Curiosity, and an estimated three-quarters of a million dollars was spent on the store.

The brand currently has a few stores open in the US. The company and brand were started in 2008, and Canada Goose, the well-established luxury outerwear, is its primary competitor.

The Ingles store on the Hamilton Mill, 1221 Dacula Road in Dacula, closed on January 4. The supermarket was opened in 1996 and has been shuttered after almost 3 decades in business. The store occupied a massive 61,000-square-foot space with a total land area of 26 acres. The reason for the closing of the store has not been made public.

Ingles, the North-Carolina-based supermarket chain, has several regional stores in suburban Atlanta. Stores are currently open in various parts of Metro Atlanta and Georgia, like Acworth, Cartersville, Carrollton, Douglasville, Fayetteville, Peachtree Corners, Lilburn, Stone Mountain, and more. Atleast 8 of the Ingles locations in Metro Atlanta were closed down in the past few years. The supermarket chain that started in 1963 primarily focuses on suburban areas and smaller cities.

The unfortunate fact is that Atlanta and Metro Atlanta will most likely see a lot more retail stores closing down in the coming months. Retail chains like Kohl’s and Macy’s have already announced that some of their stores in the area will be closed down soon. Traditional brick-and-mortar stores have been facing significant challenges amid changing consumer behaviors and the rise of e-commerce. The numerous store closures are reflective of the transformation going on in the retail landscape in the US.
