The new suite of offices spans 12,500 square feet, located on the second floor near The Hungry Peach café. They will include lots of natural light, shared conference rooms, unisex bathrooms, a break room with a kitchenette, and a common area.
ADAC General Manager Katie Miner said the demand was there to redevelop this part of the building into additional office space.
“We have had designers and architects come to us every single year asking if we had office space,” she told What Now Atlanta. “More often than not, we had pent-up demand without any additional and new availability. We got to a point that we knew with so many people coming to us asking if we had available office space, it must be the right time.”
Activating this area of the building for more office space makes sense because it has less foot traffic than the showrooms.
“This one is more tucked away,” Miner said of the second-floor area. “That makes it a practical location for offices. They don’t need that walk-by traffic.”
She said architects and designers love to be located at ADAC for the unparalleled convenience and access to showrooms, product lines and other spaces.
“We are hearing from all our designers that it makes it so easy to get their job done when they’re right there on the campus,” Miner said.
The estimated completion date for the Design Studios at ADAC is the first quarter of 2025.
Tish Mills Interiors is one brand that will be relocating to the new studios.
“I love the convenience, inspiration, and overall support that our Studio at ADAC has provided us for more than 18 years,” said Tish Mills Kirk, the founder of Tish Mills Interiors. “This new chapter and location will continue to allow my team to see the latest in design in our own backyard, allowing the whole building to feel like an extension of our office and team.”
In addition to the new suite of design offices, some current tenants are expanding their space, and some new additions have been added.
Kit Castaldo Design, a full-service interior design studio, recently moved into a new ADAC location of more than 730 square feet. After being in its previous space for eight years, The Design Atelier has expanded into a 2,400-square-foot office. Reiner Design Group has moved from its previous Midtown studio to a 370-square-foot space in ADAC. Five years after opening its original showroom and design office at ADAC, Habachy Designs + Atelier is doubling the size of its current space to more than 3,500 square feet.
Architect and developer John Portman built ADAC more than 60 years ago. The center serves as a one-stop shopping resource for interior designers, architects and builders. The campus consists of ADAC and ADAC WEST, with more than 26 design offices and more than 65 showrooms offering over 1,400 product lines.
