  1. Isn't there anything better to write about? These stories are getting old. If you want to know scores go to dekalb or Fulton county's health department website.

  2. Quite frankly, I appreciate these stories no matter how 'old' they get. As someone who dines out frequently, it's nice to have you provide this information so I don't have to go search for it. Keep up the good work!

  3. This is very useful information. Having twice gotten food poisoning at what were supposedly nice restaurants I understand the importance of health inspections in a personal and non theoretical way. Posting failing health inspections are an essential public service. Not caring about this means you don't eat out or think you are immune to getting sick from poor sanitation - you're not. BTW, in a former life I spent roughly 15 years in the restaurant business and know that inspections can be a pain but I also understand how important it is to not make people sick.

    Good job.

  4. hi urbanist and mike-- yes, we posted about flip separately. this is a monthly recap-- that's why they are included. also, if flip passes their next random inspection, we will update the info.

  5. "Isn’t there anything better to write about?"
Why you trying to change the subject Liz, making you uncomfortable?
Please keep reporting on these, people need to be made aware.

  6. Jack -- Mellow Mushroom's retest was not a random inspection; they knew the inspector was coming. WNA's policy is not to update until they pass a RANDOM reinspection. Reading previous comments would have told you that.

For those asking if there's nothing better to write about, when you see these posts, just scroll on by. No one is forcing you to read them. I find them quite helpful.

  7. I actually became DEATHLY ill after eating a pizza from Mellow Mushroom last month. Literally layed up with food poisoning for over 24 hours, unable to move. I had had no other food but the pizza so there was little doubt as to what the cause was. This explains a lot actually.

  8. Once at the MM on Monroe I sat outside and when I looked down at the grated Parmesan cheese on the table, it was full of maggots. I had been eating the cheese for the entire meal. I got that pizza for free and it was priceless watching my friend turn green.

  9. Maggie (and Francis), I hope you at least did your duty and reported it to the Fulton County Health Department.

  10. I certainly did! I called the health department and got a recording asking me to leave my info. I did this and never heard back. They were probably too busy helping out with catering at Bill Campbell's house that day.

  11. I so appreciate the health inspection info! I reported El Azteca on Ponce for re-using the chips. I was waiting on a to-go order and I watched the waiter take the basket of chips from the table and dump them back in to a huge warming drawer. I also avoid the chicken salad at Belly's. Just saying...

  12. Guess I won't be a happy customer in Happy Wok and I won't be going to Melia any time soon. Melia needs to start their renovations soon; that is a nasty hotel with an ugly facade. Hopefully they'll recognize the need to renovate that old, nasty kitchen and keep it clean.

  13. I recently read a report that was explaining all of these ridiculously low scores of late. They have changed the manner in which they do the score. For example, if you were to have one thing out of many out of place (a jar of pickles on the floor because you had your hands full), then you get points deducted as if everything in the store was on the floor. While it may seem to be minimal, this is why the scores are getting lower and lower...

  14. That Mellow Mushroom has one of the cleanest kitchens I've ever worked in. You can gets points off a health inspection for things that don't make people sick. I ate the food there every day for 4 years and never once got food poisoning.

  15. Thanks for reporting. The public needs these types of reminders. I go to Madrian Palace II all the time and never really took the time to check their stats. Some of the workers/owners do want any bad press. Well you wont get it if you kept your place up to inspection standards. Stop lashing out on cjs!
