Autozone is planned for 5361 GA-20, according to construction documents.

Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Autozone is the nation’s leading retailer of auto parts and accessories for cars, SUVs, vans and trucks. They also offer a variety of services, like battery testing and charging, oil recycling, and more.

According to the construction plans, the new Covington store would be about 6,800 square feet, which is standard for the brand. Autozone stores are typically between 6,500 and 8,000 square feet, although they also offer bigger “hub” stores, with larger footprints and greater inventory. The company has expressed plans to open at least 200 “mega hubs.”

The site for the proposed store is located near Newton Crossroads, a Kroger-anchored shopping center.

There are currently two Autozone stores in Covington – one at 3215 Elm Street NE and another at 3900 Salem Road. There are more than 7,000 locations across the globe, all corporate-owned. The company focuses on sites with good parking options (typically between 25 and 40 spaces) and high visibility, according to a new store development brochure.

Covington is located in Newton County, southeast of Atlanta.
