The new store will take over suite #3075A, formerly occupied by Mercedes-Benz’s temporary retail ‘experience.’

Amazon will spend nearly $1,468,765.00 building out the space, according to permits filed earlier this week with City of Atlanta.

The store is another toe-hold in Atlanta for the technology giant, which is rumored to be considering the city for its east coast headquarters. Oddsmakers recently listed Atlanta as the betting favorite to win the bid.

In addition to filing permits for the Lenox Square store, Amazon announced this week that it would add a fourth distribution center in Georgia, creating up to 500 jobs in the Macon-Bibb County area.

This comes after the company filed plans for office space in Atlantic Station in April of this year.

The bookstore follows an Amazon pop-up kiosk at Lenox Square that sells Amazon devices and accessories, and a university pick-up/drop-off location at Georgia Tech opened in 2016.

Amazon lists 12 bookstore locations on its website, with three more planned.
