  1. oh no, a dingy restaurant serving shitty italian food is closing! let all the southerners who think this is “authentic” just because it’s old and has wood paneling in there cry in sadness!

    1. but wait: bad day.

It doesn’t matter if Alfredo’s serves “authentic” Italian food. Anyone who has actually been to Italy realizes that “Italian food” isn’t one thing. Alfredo’s is an authentic experience, which has endeared many people over many years. There is quite the committed following. Given that, Alfredo’s should relocate to a near by location (on Cheshire Bridge?), and try to find another hole-in-the wall space if there are any good ones remaining. Any respectable commercial broker in the local area should be able to help them find a suitable, not entirely darling location.

If there are no more good holes-in-the wall available, perhaps they are left to occupy a street-level retail space in one of these new, mixed-use apartment building which are so trendy right now. They just need to make sure the parking really works for their patrons. Poor parking setups can really kill street-level retail locations.

  2. I spent many evenings there with friends even before it became such a popular place. i love Perry and before him Emanuelle! Great place and hate to see it go. I even remember Sammy! Pierre too.

  3. Why all the hostility toward apartments? I have heard no info that, if in fact Alfredo’s is closing, it is because they are being run off by development. I love Alfredo’s and hope they do not close. If they are closing on Cheshire Bridge I hope they plan to reopen somewhere else. How about the Old 4th Ward where there is much demonstrated proof that good food and development are not mutually exclusive.

  4. I hope they keep the charm…and the Godfather feel!
They should open in Virginia Highlands. Take over where Timone’s was. That would be fantastic!!!

  5. I and my husband have spent many wonderful evenings at Alfrado’s over the last 41 years, and am so disappointed to learn of the closing. I really do hope Perry will re-open soon in the general area, or between there and Northlake area. Just will await news, but hope it’s soon, and hope it will be in the general N/E Atlanta area (with good Parking space!)
