The fast-growing retailer is planned for 1208 Crawford Street in Americus, according to construction documents. It will be over 49,000 square feet.

The property is currently occupied by Harveys Supermarket. Last year, Aldi announced the acquisition of hundreds of Harveys and Winn-Dixie stores in the Southeast as part of its plans to expand its portfolio.

Aldi is known for low prices and a simplified shopping experience. There are currently more than 80 locations in Georgia, including three in Atlanta and a new one opening soon in Thomasville. There are more than 2,300 locations across the U.S.

Americus is located in Sumter County.
