“We decided on East Atlanta Village because it’s in transition to becoming a really great area. It gives us the ability to be a part of something new and exciting,” Owner told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in an email Thursday.

“The music scene there is thriving and many of our clients live in EAV.”

It will be the first Acorn Amplifiers location dedicated to just retail.  Petito and his wife lived and worked out of the same building at the shop’s first location in Decatur.

After a musical career of his own, Petito was a guitar tech on tour with bands like Gym Class Heroes, Head Automatica, and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

“Guitar teching pays well so I saved until I had enough to start a business building amplifiers,” Petito explained.

Now, the amplifiers business will open in East Atlanta Village’s Glenwood Retail redevelopment, which will feature 18,000-square-feet of restaurant and retail space upon completion in late December.

The musical equipment store is planning a January 5, 2016 opening.

The 1,975-square-foot space will be on the terrace level at the corner of Glenwood Avenue and Gresham Avenue.
