8West, a soon-to-open mixed-use development in West Midtown, this week announced that Florida-based creative firm The Dalton Agency has officially signed to be the first tenant in the nine-story office building that faces Howell Mill Road at 8th Street. The 200,000 square-foot project is already home to the art wall featuring Craig Alan’s “From the Ground Up” phoenix mural as shown in the above rendering.
“Formerly based in Midtown Atlanta, The Dalton Agency, a full-service integrated marketing communications agency, sought a new space that reflected its creative roots and gave employees and visitors a refreshing mix of character and cool,” a spokesperson in an email told What Now Atlanta. Following a January 2019 groundbreaking, the building is now complete and available to potential office and retail tenants.
“We wanted a new space that we could be proud to call home and that reflected who we are as an agency,” Dalton Agency President Bill Coontz said in a prepared statement. “When your work is strategic and creative, it’s essential to inhabit a space that intrinsically blends with our culture. Trading our former Midtown location for 8West really fits our culture.”
8West’s office amenities include a tenant common outdoor rooftop patio, fitness center, indoor bike storage, and breakout meeting areas. The development — which features 175,000 square feet of office space, 10,000 square feet of retail space, and 264 apartments — marked an investment of $160 million by the developers. The office and retail floorplans were developed in partnership between Gateway Ventures Real Estate and Atlantic Capital Properties. The project was designed by MSTSD, Inc. and constructed by BL Harbert International.
