1738 will specialize in both American and West African cuisine, focusing on Nigerian fare as well as classic American dishes like mac and cheese and chicken fingers with french fries.

“We really wanted to bring together American food and West African food,” says owner Sulaiman Adewojo. The restaurant will also do an all-day breakfast and cocktails.

As for the space, there will be bar seating, plenty of indoor seating in the dining room, and an outdoor patio. Adewojo hopes to open before Thanksgiving, so if you’re feeling apathetic about mashed potatoes and turkey, you should be able to head to 1738 for some authentic West African food (although, there will likely be something akin to an American Thanksgiving dinner on the menu).
