The deal will bring Slim Chickens to several counties, including Floyd, Gordon, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Jackson and Clarke.
Lance Burns and Mike Waller of Peach State Slims are the team behind the new locations. The experienced franchisees (they operate several Sonic locations) discovered Slim Chickens when visiting a location in Florida.
“We both were both wanting to try something new,” Burns told What Now Atlanta of their interest in opening their own Slim Chickens branches.
Slim Chickens first opened in 2003 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and has since grown to nearly 300 locations across the United States, Turkey, Germany and the United Kingdom. There are currently four in Georgia: Warner Robins, Statesboro, Evans and Albany.
The menu includes chicken tenders, sandwiches, wings, salads, chicken and waffles, and a variety of sides along with 14 house-made dipping sauces.
“They’re cooked fresh every time. They are so tasty even without sauce,” Burns said of the chicken tenders, which are his top menu recommendation. His wife loves the fried mushrooms, which join fried okra, fried pickles and more as available sides.
The group is currently looking for real estate for the upcoming locations, with the first expected to open by April 2026. Nothing is set in stone yet, but Cumming and Canton are two areas they are looking at.
“We’re very excited to bring the brand to metro Atlanta,” Burns said. “The brand’s gonna be a smashing hit.”
The recent development deal joins existing plans for expansion of Slim Chickens in the Peach State. As What Now Atlanta reported earlier this year, another development group is working on bringing locations to Georgia and South Carolina.
